Recycle Repurpose Reuse.
You may have seen or heard this expression before and if you’ve been with us long enough, you would know this is something we practise. Not only with daily ventures but also in design.
I personally have always loved the idea of having something no one else has. It’s the whole reason I started designing in the first place. Then there’s my strong belief in recycling, like, to the point where I’m that annoying person who will watch you from afar to ensure you’ve put it in the right bin. Combine these two traits together and you have our exclusive Up-cycled collection.

Way before Tinka, there was just little ol’ me creating jewellery for myself and loved ones on the kitchen table (in a way, not much has changed). Cluttering the table in what I describe as “organised chaos” were containers of jewellery supplies. Some new, some recycled from Op Shops, some personal pieces that had broken throughout the years and for some unknown reason, kept. It was a collection of goodies I knew would one day be of use.
Most of the recycled and vintage pieces are so unique and can only (mostly) be used for one design, so I want to make sure they’re used well. Naturally, due to the nature of the materials, these designs are all one-of-a-kind. Yes you read correctly, one-of-a-kind.
And if that’s not good enough to shop yourself a piece, you should know that there’s a whole list of feel good reasons. I’ll pinpoint them below:
- Handmade in Melbourne
- Made from recycled materials
- Supports the slow fashion movement
- Reduces the amount of waste sent to landfill
- One-of-a-kind (ok, you know this already, but how good is that?!)
If that all sounds good to you, I think it's time we introduce you to the latest additions to Upcycled.
